Dental Bonding and Dentures
Dental Bonding
Dental Bonding is another option in cosmetic dentistry which can also be used to repair chipped or worn teeth, gaps in between teeth and discoloration. Unlike many of the other cosmetic options, dental bonding does not require anything to be sent to a lab. This procedure can take place in one or more appointments in our office.
With the use of tooth colored bonding material, areas that have been damaged can be fixed. The teeth are prepared and special material is added to increase the adhesiveness of the tooth so that the material will bond easier and stronger. A special shade of material is chosen based on the individual and their preference as well as the surrounding teeth and their natural shade. After material is added it is then sculpted and molded to the desired shape based on the individual need. After the procedure is complete the tooth is very natural looking and the material blends in perfectly.
Dentures
There are many problems that can arise with regards to having missing teeth. These problems may include:
- Teeth shifting
- Inability or difficulty eating
- Jaw soreness
- Lack of support for cheeks and lips
Here at our office we offer customized dentures based on your individual need and desire. There are many types of dentures that are available.
- Partial Denture: Allows for remaining teeth to be saved while at the same time replacing any missing teeth. The partial denture is held in place by metal clasps that fit around specific teeth, or anchor teeth.
- Complete Denture: This specific type is used to replace a full set of missing teeth, either on the upper or lower jaw. Impressions are taken of the specific area and a denture is made to fit perfectly in place and therefore, allows for a great fitting, practical, healthy alternative to one’s natural teeth.
Dentures make take a little getting used to until the surrounding structures adjust, adapt and are able to support and hold them in place. With some practice and regular visits to our office for a denture check, they can be a great alternative to one’s natural teeth.
